Third graders should be reading every night for 20 or more minutes. This includes reading out loud to an adult, listening to an adult read, or reading to a younger sibling or cousin. I strongly encourage families to spend a lot of time the first part of the year having your child READ OUT LOUD for their homework. This is a wonderful way to help improve reading fluency. When reading out loud students can work on their rate and expression.
